Who said we older women can't date younger men!

Society that thinks it's acceptable for older men to date younger women – that 's who.

Double standards at their worst. It never ceases to amaze me that in the 21^st century there is still one rule, that says, men can do more or less what they please, and another unfair rule for women that says, we should keep to our place. Whatever that is. 

I grew up in an era where if a woman was raped – she never told what had happened to her because as sure as little green apples fall, she'd get the blame. Not much has changed since my younger days. Although to be fair this disgraceful attitude prevails more in less enlightened cultures than my own.

Women become old. Men mature. Yet another double standard. Men don't age – apparently they ripen. Women on the other hand become, 'old bags'.

It is sad that a lot of younger women also hold the view that once a woman passes a certain age, then she is over the hill, and should hide herself away in some remote spot, as far removed from where the young things are, as possible. Maybe, they just don't like the competition?

Mature women today are a very different species to the generation of our mothers.

We are vibrant. We buy the clothes we want to wear irrespective of whether they are age appropriate or not.

We are grey haired, only if we choose to be.

And as more and more of us are no longer staying in unhappy marriages – we are finding a whole new sector of men who appreciate us.

Yep – younger men who prefer to date older women know they are onto a good thing. Not just because older women are more sexually experienced, but because they have wisdom that their younger counterparts have yet to gain.

In 2002 Joan Collins married Percy Gibson – she was 69 he was 37 – they are still married to day.

In 2013 Tina Turner – then 74 married her long-time love, he was 58 – they are still married to this day.

There are lots of famous women who have much younger boyfriends.

And of course, the new French President – Emmanuel Macron – is 24 years younger than his, happily married to wife, Brigitte.

And how these women are hated when they have the audacity to look stunning, at an age when they should be helping their daughters with the grand kids.

What about the old fart who is wearing a toupee or combing his few strands of hair across his head? No derogatory comments about his relationship with a girl old enough to be his daughter, what am I saying! Granddaughter. If he's rich, he can have a young empty headed girl on his arm, and society merely smiles.

Then, maybe the girl is not as daft as we would all like to think she is. After all, he's rich, and paying for everything. If she's got any sense, she's going to grow up to be a wealthy woman, dating a younger man.

Mature woman should throw off the mantle of preconceived prejudices, and do what the hell pleases them, when it comes to men and sex.

Woman have earned the right to stand up and say – what's good for the goose is most definitely good for the gander.

My eldest son was 23 when he brought home his 47 year old girlfriend – and you will never guess what her last name was – I'm not lying – it was – yep you got it –

The relationship didn't last – but I didn't mind that they dated – why should I – I don't have double standards.

If he likes you. And you like him – but there's an unconventional age gap – ignore convention. Date that young guy and enjoy every stamina filled moment.
