If, like me, you scrutinise your face in the mirror every morning, to see if your facial  drainage system, (wrinkles), has managed to increase overnight, then this article is for you.  I don't think there is a website or YouTube channel I haven't read or watched in my quest to find the answer to my daily morning mirror dilemma. 

Creams. Lotions. Potions. From the sublime to the ridiculous, and the, this one seems like it could work, to the, there's not a hope in hell's chance of this muck workingYou name it. I've tried it. 

And I haven't just relied on the cosmetics industry to solve my maturing skin problem. 



I've practised facial yoga. 



Then there was the time I enthusiastically exercised my facial muscles. I prodded and pulled my Obicularis Oris, Temporalis, and every other muscle my face apparently possessed until my fingers were sore, and my hands ached. In the misguided belief my my time consuming efforts, would produce a youthfully smooth skin. The theory being that if you exercise your facial muscles, they grow and pull the skin tighter. 

Well that was bullshit.

Ever the diligent and hopeful student. For just shy of a year, gullible me followed the on-line instructor. Never missing the daily work-out. Not once. No lie. 

However, not a single exercise made the slightest difference to the ever increasing encroachment of lines crisscrossing my face.  

In a roundabout way the facial exercises were helpful. Not in getting rid of my wrinkles - that was never going to happen - but in my disappointment sending me off in search of an alternative to trying to develop facial muscles that were clearly not going to respond to my efforts.

With a healthy dose of scepticism (at long last) - I trawled YouTube, and found Abigail James's, channel, and her facial massage routine. 

Thanks to Abigail's method of massaging to help combat skin ageing - I've hit jackpot in the wrinkle reduction stakes. 

Unlike other methods, Abigail's massage routine doesn't take up too much time, anywhere from 4 minutes to 15 minutes. How long you massage your face for, is up to you. And because the routine can be as short as to want, you can do the routine after your morning shower. Or even in the evening watching television. 


One of the things I like about Abigail James, is not only does she not push you to buy products from her. 
She suggests going into your kitchen cupboard to find inexpensive plant oils for her anti-ageing massage routine. 
Which led me to another fabulous discovery. The magical properties of coconut oil on my skin. Amazing, I've cooked with the stuff for years, but never thought for a second that such a cheap natural product could make my skin feel so wonderfully nourished.

So here's the nitty gritty - does it work? 

I so wish I'd taken before and after photos of myself. I didn't, because having been so spectacularly unsuccessful in my earlier attempts to youthen my skin, I reckoned the chances of Abigail's face massage doing what the other methods couldn't, wasn't high. 

     

I started to notice a difference to my skin tone immediately. From then on the look of my skin just got better and better as the fine lines started to disappear. 

I have now been giving myself a daily face massage for a month, and no way am I imagining the improvement in the reduction of lines on my face. I had three areas on my face that were the most troubling.

#1 - Crows feet. The deep lines I had before I started facial massaging are still there, but they are less deep and the fine lines are gone.

#2 - Mouth lines. I've never smoked, so I have always thought it unfair that my upper and lower lips were cursed with 'smokers' lines. The deeper lines are still there, but again, they no longer seem as prominent as they did. The fine lines are definitely significantly reduced, and there aren't anymore lines appearing. Her video on massaging the upper and lower lip, with a great way to also help in keeping those awful looking 'puppet' lines at bay is at the end of this article. 

#3 - Sagging jowls. When you get to a certain age it's inevitable body parts start drooping. We all know about boob droop. In my opinion sagging jowls are worse. A good bra sorts out the boob problem. But what can give you back a firm jawline? Unless you are into serious gym workouts - having sagging jowls in your later years is (or was) inevitable. Using Abigail's technique of placing the thumb under the chin and massaging along the jawline I have seen a dramatic lift to my sagging jowls. 

All of this - is not wishful thinking. I've spent enough hours peering into the mirror to know when something is working and when it isn't. And Abigail James's facial massage technique - is definitely working for me.

All I can say is - watch her video - and try her method out for yourself. I am positive, like me, you will be delighted with the results. 

p.s. I recommend using Coconut oil when massaging your face. It's an excellent skin moisturiser. Doesn't cost a fortune. And importantly for me, no animals are used to test it's cosmetic properties.

It's impossible to stop the ageing process, but you don't have to give in without a fight, and I sincerely believe that Abigail's facial massage technique, is an essential weapon in the battle. I wouldn't write this article if I didn't.
