Awaken the giant within you

Do you look in the mirror each morning and wish you could change the way you feel about yourself?

Maybe you want to be thinner.

So, wouldn't it be great if there was a machine you could walk into fat, and come out the other side thin?

Such a shame there isn't.

But there are lots of products on the market that have as much authenticity as the idea of a machine doing all the work for you.

Take skinny wraps for instance.

You wrap yourself in a cloth like material or you could do a D.I.Y, and use clingfilm, having first covered yourself in body wrap clay, leave overnight, then hey presto your weight magically drops off. This stunning product claims to be able to tone and firm your body by just putting the thing on. Which if you believe the b*** - sh**, has the side-effect of you getting rid of several inches of unwanted fat.
Guess all those hours spent in the gym, and making sure I eat nutritionally balanced food was a total wast of time. Not.
I'm thinking the only thing you will lose, is money out of your pocket.

Then there's the slimming pill.
A number of diet pills have been taken off the market because they have been found to be dangerous to health. One of the worst diet pills was a combination of fenfluramine and phentermine - marketed as Fen-Phen. The product was linked to cases of pulmonary hypertension, damaged heart valves, and a number of deaths. This product has now been removed from the market. But there are others still available to buy that are questionable not only in the risks you run taking them, but their effectiveness.

Sure some tablets help you reduce weight, they block your appetite - but - as with all these snake oil products - whatever modest weight reduction you get from them - back comes the weight as soon as you stop taking the tablets.

One of my favourite products for it's laughability is the idea 'sweat pants' melt the fat for you.
You will see a reduction in your weight, if you wear these things whilst working out - but here's the rub -while you are working out.

But the loss is temporary,  what you are actually losing is water - because of the increased perspiration when doing physical exercise. You dump your weight by burning calories - not sweating. The weight will come straight back on as soon as you drink something.

If you are thinking of buying a 'sauna suit', then this article from

Chron  is worth reading -

My opinion. Sweat suits -  are just another pointless raid on your bank account.

I could not write this article without mentioning - Liposuction.

Lipo is just another form of cosmetic surgery. Sure the fat stays off for as long as you maintain a healthy eating regime, but if you go back to the eating habits that made lipo necessary, then it's back to -

Q - "Does my bum look big in this?"

A - "Yes. Maybe you should try liposuction?"

Also, lipo, doesn't come cheap. The average cost of Liposuction in the US is $3,200.

In the UK, the average cost is between £2,700 to £7,000.

Like all surgical procedures Lipo comes with risks - which include deep vein thrombosis, organ perforation, infection and bleeding.

This  Q & A   session on Realself by board certified doctors gives a good insight into the pros and cons of liposuction.

You don't need a magic machine. Neither do you have to put your faith in products that have about as much chance of you maintaining a permanent weight reduction, as I have of becoming an astronaut.

What you need is - self belief. Believing in yourself is the key to achieving your life's goals. It is often overlooked. And majorly underestimated.

I discovered the motivational guru, Tony Robbins, sixteen years plus ago. I read his book Awaken the Giant Within -
and it blew my mind - he awakened in me an understanding, that all I had to do to achieve - was to want to. Simple - that was it. I had everything I needed for success within me - I just had to look inside myself to find it.

Awaken the Giant Within - gave me the mental tools to connect with a potential I didn't know I had. To do the things I'd always wanted to do, but never thought I could. I qualified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, specialising in weight reduction. I realised my dream of becoming a published author with an American publisher. I learnt a second language - and of course, I started blogging!

For years I held a low level of expectation about myself, that seriously underestimated what I could actually achieve. And one of those things I desperately wanted to achieve but never could, was sustainable weight reduction. I'd lose weight only to put it all back on again. This yo-yo diet and weight loss cycle went on for years. Then, I found out that my lack of success was the way I connected to myself.

Tony Robbins was right - you have to get your mind in a good place - only then will things start to go the way you want them to.
You don't need to buy his book - to find out his message.

Today's society is very judgemental. We are judged by the way we look, our dress size. The colour of our skin. Our gender. By how much money we have or the level of our education. And there's always someone who will drain your confidence with their own negativity toward life. Refuse to let that happen to you and get motivated!

This is just one of many motivational videos by Tony Robbins on YouTube  - Focus on Yourself - like all his videos, so worth taking the time to listen to.

Have a great day - a wonderful weekend - and a marvellous life.
