the power of now -

Life sucks sometimes -

I'm talking about the everyday grind that wears us down until  we can't see a way out. You want out of your current relationship. You wished you lived somewhere else. You hate your job. Money worries. These things take an enormous emotional toll on our mental well being.

When you are in a 'can't see the wood for the trees', situation it can be very difficult to stand back, and be objective to the problem.
I'm not a self-help guru, and I'm not going to give you the usual self-help guru spiel. I'm going to tell you to be selfish by looking purely at your needs, and what you can do to make yourself happy. Unhappiness is like a cancer. It spreads to all areas of your life making a bad situation - worse.
Okay so you hate your life. All of it? Or just some of it.
I want to end my relationship, but my job doesn't pay me enough to move out and because of of this my health is beginning to suffer.
Actually it doesn't matter what you think is the problem - because it's not the problem that is the problem. What's really making you unhappy - is you.Take a step back and analyse your problem.
As I said, I'm not a self-help guru - what I am is someone who has gone through hard times, both emotionally and physically, and has come out the other side stronger, and so much wiser.
I've had dark times when those I thought loved me, turned their backs to me, leaving me alone, stuck in a deeply unhappy situation, at a time when I needed them the most.
I wasn't going to get anyone's support, and at that time what was happening in my life wasn't going to change.
I had two ways to go. Carrying on being miserable or decide not to let what I was going through cause me anymore emotional pain.
Constantly thinking I hate my life. I don't want to be here, and it's not going to change anytime soon, was soul destroying. And the only person who was suffering was me. All those negative emotions attacked my body. Adding physical pain on top of the emotional pain. One day, I told myself - enough. I went in search of a solution to my unhappiness - and I found what I was looking for in the understanding of spiritual awakening.
When you feel good: so does your body. When you feel bad: so does your body. When you wake up in the morning and immediately think - another bloody awful day - that's what you will have - another bloody awful day. Start your day focusing on good things and you will be amazed at the difference it makes to your day ahead.
I read and listened to books and audio books by several different teachers, thanks to them I learnt to look inside myself for the answer to my emotional pain.

I was inspired to change my life by three main teachers - I haven't listed them in order of preference - but by chronological order.
Dr Wayne Dyer
Wishes Fulfilled

audio book by Dr Wayne Dyer. Dr Dyer cured himself of Leukemia by using his mind, with the power of positivity.

Esther/Abraham Hicks

Ask And It Is Given audio book by Esther and Jerry Hicks. These are the teachings of the nonphysical entity Abraham - channeled through Esther Hicks.

The Power of Now audio book by Eckhart Tolle.
Make a habit to monitor your mental emotional state through self-observation. "Am I at ease at this moment? Is a good question to ask yourself frequently. Or you can ask: "What's going on inside me at this moment? Be at least as interested in what goes on inside you as what happens outside. If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place.
Quotation from the book -

Oprah Winfrey is quoted as saying about - The Power of Now - "I keep this book at my bedside. I think it's essential spiritual teaching. It's one of the most valuable books I've ever read."

I've listened to the audio books of Dr Dyer, Esther Hicks and Eckhart Tolle, over and over again - read the paperbacks from cover to cover more than once: by practicing and believing in their teachings I am no longer plagued by panic attacks and my stress induced heart palpitations are under control. Instead of the dread I used to face every morning when I woke up, I now look forward to my day.
