Woodwose the British bigfoot
Do you enjoy walking through the woods? Do you ever feel that you are not alone? That someone or something is watching you? The woods of the British Isles hold a secret that is rarely talked about. Among the trees, it is said there lives ancient beings so mysterious that only the privileged few have ever seen one.
Unlike the American Sasquatch, the British Woodwose has not had extensive research carried out. I did however, find this article in Cornwall Live. Article from Cornwall Live by a Bigfoot witness
The witness in question was working in the woods when he came face to face with a Bigfoot. When he asked his employer had anyone else seen such a creature? The response was - "Oh yes. We call them Woodwose here. Just leave them be."
It's not surprising that Cornwall, a place steeped in magic and mystery, has sightings of the legendary Woodwose.
Sadly a lot of people either don't believe in the Woodwose or if they do, they think of them as animals, which according to my research is very far from the truth.
Everything I have read, and watched on YouTube about them, suggests they are highly intelligent (they don't want to know humans) that alone says they are intelligent. They show compassion, anger at hunters who hunt for sport, and have actually saved peoples lives. I have never heard of anyone in the UK being hurt by a Woodwose.
There is about 3.2 million hectares of woodland in the UK, that's plenty of habitat for an elusive being to hide in.
As to food sources, there is about 2 million deer roaming the woods. Add to that all the rivers we have filled with fish, lots of small mammals, wild berries, mushrooms, and all sorts of forageable plants, nuts and seeds to feed a large population of Woodwose.

I can't find a lot of research going on at the present in the UK regarding Bigfoot, but the folklore regarding the 'Hairy Man' in this country does goes back hundreds of years, so it's not a new phenomena. I assume the research into the Woodwose is sparse in the UK because no one believes we have enough habit to accommodate such large bipedal beings, which just isn't true. Unfortunately most of the really good photographic evidence and sightings comes from either the USA or Canada, and as Woodwose and Bigfoot are the species I used much of my photo evidence from those countries.
If whist walking the woodland trails you do come across trees that have been twisted like this picture there's a good chance a Woodwose did it. I'm not saying they did for certain, but it takes a great deal of strength, beyond the ability of humans to twist a thick tree trunk and then bend it over on itself.
Nature does not make x's out of tree trunks. Nor does it pull the trees out of the ground, turn them upside down, and place them across each other.
The wigwam style structure is common. Again nature could not have done this. Okay a human could have, but here's the thing, tree structures are often found in very remote areas. Places that are not only difficult to reach on human foot, but are remote enough that it is not likely hikers, other than Bigfoot researchers, will come across them.
Then there's the wood knocks, and the whoops and the deep throated vocalisations that have been proven to be from large capacity lungs, such as a eight to ten foot creature would have.
This phenomena is not isolated to a few areas of the world, it is truly global.
UK - Woodwose.
USA - Sasquatch.
Canada - Sabre.
China - Yeren.
Russia - Almasty.
Australia - Yowie.
These are only a few of the countries that Bigfoot is believed to inhabit.
Overwhelming evidence to support the probability that these beings actually do exist - comes from the thousands of witness sightings, photographs, giant foot print casts, and film coverage. Some of this evidence is no doubt fake - but all of it?
In 1967 Bob Gremlin and Roger Patterson filmed a female Bigfoot in Bluff Creek, California. I've watched the film countless times - and have come to the conclusion that it is not a fake. I'm sure someone will disagree with me, but when you look at the muscles on the top of her leg, and her calf, they way she walks evenly and with ease - to me there is no way this is someone in a costume. Since then there has been other good quality photos of Bigfoot, unfortunately all the best photographic evidence comes from America and Canada. I guess it's safe to say that Woodwose, looks just like, this photo.
I have put links below to the best Bigfoot research sites I've found for the UK Woodwose -

The Elusive Bigfoot Abroad - featuring sightings of Bigfoot in the UK.
I shall keep wandering through the woods with my eyes wide open, just in case I actually see a Woodwose. What would I do if I did meet one?
