Hefner - Good Riddance - the truth behind the smile.
This short article is not a tribute to the late Hugh Hefner - quite the opposite.
Whether
you think of Hugh Hefner as a serial sex offender or as a pioneer in
liberalising the sex industry, he reduced women to mere sex objects.
The
infamous Playboy Mansion was, and still is, synonymous with hedonism
and sexual excess.
In
1992 – he bought the crypt next to Marilyn Monroe – in life he
took advantage of her. As a struggling young actress she modelled in
the nude for his magazine, for a lousy $50. Something she bitterly
regretted later on.

She wrote in her biography -
"Marilyn:
Her Life in Her Own Words", "I
never even received a thank-you from all those who made millions off
a nude Marilyn photograph. I even had to buy a copy of the magazine
to see myself in it."
- that to me sums up what Hugh Hefner and his Playboy creation is all
about. The exploitation of women's sensuality for financial gain.
Did
he, by buying the crypt next to her, paying $75,000, for the privilege, continue to use her name to add fame to his own? Maybe – but by the
time of his death, aged 91, and indeed in 1992, he was famous enough
without needing to use Marilyn to be remembered.

When
you look at pictures of him with girls young enough to be his
granddaughter, the term, dirty old man springs to mind.
An article in Cosmopolitan about Holly Madison's book – 'Down the
Rabbit Hole' – exposes the truth behind his beguiling smile.
A truth that turns out not to be very nice. The article is well worth the read. As I am sure is the book, which I plan on buying. Here's the links to the article and the book.

Why have I written this article? For the simple reason, the sickening tributes to this man are ignoring the darker side of him. His attitude to woman as objects to be owned for the pleasure of men, seems to be forgotten in the eulogies.
How
much suffering was hidden behind the smiles of the young women he was
pictured with? I am sure – a lot.
Suzanne
Moore, of the Guardian newspaper – called him a Pimp – and she
was so right.
Rest
In Peace – Hugh Hefner – I hope not.
I
choose to believe that Karma eventually deals the wrong doer
punishment. He may have enjoyed the fruits of his sexual exploitation
of women in the earthly life, I like to think however, he will have to atone
for this in the after-life.
