Zen - and the art of mind orgasms
A very few lucky people don't need to have their confidence boosted. For the rest of us poor mortals, a confidence booster bridges the difference between misery and happiness.
Zen is the Japanese word for meditation.

Beauty - as they say - comes in many forms. That's even more true today than back in the day when the quote was originally written.
To the quote - add - beauty comes in many forms - and in many different sizes and colours.
But not everyone is as beautiful as the young woman in the picture.
Some of us are out of shape. Clueless when it comes to dress sense. Have hair that stoically refuses to do as it is told. And generally are a mess with no idea about colour co-ordination, or the type of clothes they unstylishly put on their backs. But does any of this really matter? Depends on your point of view. For me - the answer is - NO.
I'm more a people person, and sod what they look like.
It's a misconception to think a sense of style is all important. The idea that you are what you look like, is led by an industry that promotes the idea that what you look like on the outside outweighs the person - for one single reason. To make$money$
That said, there's nothing wrong in wanting to feel and look good. Why shouldn't you want to look your best? It's natural.
But when the fashion world, and reality show's, such as Love Island or The Perfect Housewives of Somewhere, are telling you that if you don't fit into their select stereotype vision, then you are inadequate, the ordinary person's confidence can take a hit.
I prefer to value the inner person and not worship loads of unnecessary material stuff.
Because that's all material things are - stuff.
Stuff that gets people into debt. Stuff that we fight over. Stuff that we could actually do with out, but think we can't. Stuff that we don't get to keep when we die.
We are not ancient Egyptians.

I can't think of one.
I used to live on a riverboat. Not much room for stuff on a boat. And hey - guess what? My world didn't fall apart because I didn't have a closet full of clothes I never wore. Or posh dinner plates we never ate off. Or pretty things to scatter around gathering dust.
So what if you don't meet society's norm of what it considers perfection. We can't all be six foot. I'm five foot - and very happy with my height thank you. Except when I can't reach the top shelf in the supermarket - but that's a simple problem to overcome. There's always someone taller who is willing to help me. Especially when I say please and thank you.
The Oxford dictionary definition of beauty doesn't mention your inner soul just what you look like. With emphasis on what a woman looks like - basically woman that is pleasing to the eye. And therefore pleasing to men. I wonder which gender wrote this definition in the Oxford Dictionary? Well as the dictionary was first published in 1884 - I've a good idea.
Anyway - today we all know that's crap. Or do we?
Using the dictionary definition.
Some people I have met, may have been ugly on the outside, but on the inside they were the most beautiful people I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know.
And some of the most beautiful people on the outside, that I have had the misfortune to know, were so very ugly on the inside - they made
Quasimodo look good.
There's nothing remotely Zen about a ➜
So how do you go about using - Zen - or rather meditation to find your perfect mental place?
Just find a quiet place - and go for it.
Of course, it does help if you listen to calming music. And you may have to practise clearing your mind of miscellaneous thoughts. Here's a short 12 minute guide to meditation -
And it really doesn't matter where you meditate. A hot bath full of bubbles, surrounded by lots of lovely smelly candles, instead of the glare from an overhead electric light, is a great place to unwind.
The whole point is to find a way to centre your thoughts on the positive aspects of you.
To help you get in the Zen mood - here's some therapy music -
And a great hypnosis session to find your Chakras -
Or you can simply listen to a hypnosis session on positive thinking.
And if none of this helps - then have a glass of Beaujolais - and say to your detractors - up yours -

Really enjoyed this article. Trying to find inner peace, "“The perfect blossom is a rare thing. You could spend your whole life looking for one, and it would not be a wasted life”
