love the book - book review - The One & Into the dark

Some of the best things in life are authors - it's why I'm including a new feature for my blog.

My first review is actually on two fantasy romance books by the same author Annaliese Plowright - The One and Into the Dark.

The first book - The One - is an enticing
mixture of supernatural magic, sweet romance, and deadly betrayal.

Brook Davenport, is a woman some already are, and others aspire to be. She is strong in adversity. Brave in dangerous situations. Doesn't hesitate to do the right thing, and loves with a deep passion.

One of several things I enjoyed about this book is that the romance isn't overdone, rather, it compliments the sub-plots within the main story. The writer's ingenious use of construct lets you immediately get into the novel, whilst cleverly keeping enough of the plot back to stop the reader second guessing what is going to happen next. The deeper I got into the novel, the more I found myself unable to put it down.

If you like fantasy/paranormal - this book is for you.
If you like romance - this book is for you.
If you like action/suspense - this book is for you.

Annaliese Plowright has captured the essence of a good fantasy romance novel that is both compelling and gorgeously unpredictable. Passionate love, woven through with magic, the right amount of mystery, and at times deliciously erotic.

The One - author's synopsis -

Moments into her new life on the west coast of Scotland, Brook encounters the staggeringly beautiful and reclusive Arwan Jones...
The distantly familiar, compelling but belligerent Mr Jones seems to take an instant dislike to Brook, until one morning when he saves her life under inexplicable circumstances. Soon after Brook is haunted by a series of vivid dreams and visions all centred round Arwan and a strange nebulous world every bit as mysterious and intriguing as he, leaving her to question who, or what, is Arwan Jones and why does she feel such a fundamental need to be near him?
When their relationship takes a surprising turn Brook resolves to learn the truth about Arwan and what lies between them, while unwittingly becoming embroiled in the sinister goings on of a not so sleepy village.
Will Brook be able to live with the reality that Arwan is no mere mortal; or indeed, the discovery that she has a history of running from her past? And the past has its way of catching up . . .

Which leads me on to her second book in the  - The One Saga - Into the Dark.

It is rare that a continuation book of a novel is as good as the first book, in the series. Lauren Weisberger didn't manage it with her sequel to The Devil Wears PradaRevenge Wears Prada. Annaliese Plowright, on the other hand - does, writing with
the accomplished style of a very talented author, who will one day grace the bestseller list.

Into the Dark - like all good novels gives the reader a roller-coaster ride of adventure, suspense and plenty of unexpected twists. From Scotland to the magic realm of Achren, and into the spiritual lands of the North American Lakota nation, this novel is a compelling read that doesn't disappoint.

Into the Dark - author's synopsis -
What do you do when the one you love is unmercifully torn away?

Powerful Fae magic has incarcerated Brook’s divine husband’s soul, and the only way to restore him is to do the impossible…
Aided by the brooding blonde warrior, Bran, Brook sets off on a quest that takes her through a magic mirror onto the prairies of North Dakota, where she seeks out the help of the reluctant ‘spirit breather’ of the Lakota tribe. But convincing the spirit breather to help isn’t her only problem. Brook would give her last drop of blood to have Arwan back, and as it turns out, she might just have to.
Coming to terms with the sacrifice she must make, Brook is forced to face the reality of her own forgotten past, and the depth of her feelings for another man...

The One and Into the Dark, both have well researched paranormal material, intriguing story-lines, and are imaginatively written, leaving me hoping Annaliese Plowright will add a #3 to the series.

If you want to buy either or both of the books,  I have put the links to Amazon below.
